Breakout rooms

Exploration

HOW IT STARTED

The Breakout Rooms are essential to bridge the gap in features with competitors. A lot of our customers have already had the experience of using such functionality before and ask us for it. In response, our Product Owner has requested an equivalent user experience.

A Job to be done

A teacher gives a task that should be solved in small groups.

Competitors

How did other companies design/develop this? How does a regular teacher do it in real life?

Personas

Teacher

Should separate whole class by few clicks.

Teacher’s pet

Should have an option to ask for help.

Student

Should have an option to move to another group.

Prototypes

Designed some initial prototypes to meet the needs of Product managers and made requirements for developers more accurate.

Discussed a possible implementation with developers to strengthen my opinion.

Components and screens

While I was working out all the scripts and screen details, I produced all the components the developers needed for the interface.

Colleagues, who worked with my mockups, covered the breakout room feature faster because it was clear what components we needed and what connections to the details they had.

As a result

Three large customers have migrated

Five thank you letters from our customers were received

After implementation, the number of large meetings increased by 10%
